On December 3, Mao Ning, Spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China DG of Department of Press, Communication and Public Diplomacy, shared a short video titled“Chinese Bridges Setting World Records”on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), showcasing China’s remarkable achievements in bridge construction to global audiences. The video opens with a stunning aerial shot of the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge in Guizhou. Standing 625 meters tall, it is not only the highest bridge in the world, but also the latest symbol of China’s engineering prowess.

In Guizhou—where mountains and hills account for more than 92.5% of the terrain—Chinese engineers have overcome complex geological conditions such as karst caves and underground rivers to create one engineering marvel after another. They have turned once-insurmountable natural barriers into accessible pathways, reshaping transportation across the southwest and injecting strong momentum into local economic and social development.

“China is like 10000 years ahead of other countries. What a design!”

“Hail the Chinese builders who connect the world!”

……

The video also takes overseas viewers on a panoramic journey across China’s iconic bridges that span mountains, seas, and valleys. From the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge—an integrated system of bridges, islands, and tunnels—to the Pingtan Straits Road-Rail Bridge, which crosses one of the world’s three major wind zones, and to the world’s longest bridge, the Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge… these structures not only redefine skylines with their monumental scale, but also conquer global engineering challenges posed by harsh climates and complex geology. They have become vital arteries linking economies and driving regional development.

Through a series of visually breathtaking scenes, the short film tells more than just a story of Chinese engineering. It illustrates how a nation advances regional connectivity, balances development, and enhances people’s well-being through modern infrastructure. These Chinese bridges, rising across rivers, seas, mountains, and gorges, have become iconic symbols of Chinese modernization, sending a powerful message of innovation, cooperation, and shared progress to the world.
